Setup a Carpet Manufacturing Plant

Project to setup a Carpet Manufacturing plant at Riviera Home Furnishing Pvt. Ltd., Panipat, Haryana.

June 2012, I was called from Riviera HR for a personal meeting about a new opportunity. That time I was working with Brintons Carpets (World leading company of Axminster Carpet Manufacturing) and I was happy with my Job. Hence, I was ignored that call from Riviera Company and tried to delay that meeting to re-think about that opportunity.

Lastly I went to Panipat and met Rivera’s CMD. Somehow I agreed to take this project and opportunity and joined Riviera on 30th Aug 2012. I was the single person in my team and for that project. Hence, I got a big challenge to make a team for an implement of this project. This is because, the construction work was about to complete of the weaving shed and Shipment was expected to arrive at site probably by end of October 2012.

During those days, I spent most of the time finding a suitable team mates and planning a machine layout. Finally, I have selected three team mates from different background. Kewal Singh is an expert in machine tuning and weaving. Laval Singh is an expert in weaving preparatory and Anand Gautam was the union leader and handled tough workers and management staff. So, I have team leaders from different background to start this work. Also, I have selected 7 fitters from different background.

We were done all the cleaning and marking on floor for machine setup and waiting for a container which was shipped from UK. Daily we were expecting a container and spending time for proper marking on floor. Those days were little difficult for me to keep my team busy.

Finally 1st container arrived at site. We were so excited to see the loom conditions. I was arranges, Forklift, Cranes, Heavy Labors and required man & materials for unloading the machines from container. Anand was taken a lead to unload the materials from containers. Unloading of machine was very risky and need accuracy. This is because, the entire machine are made up of Cast Iron. Finally entire team win and all the machines were unloaded safely, except one Loom. Minor damage happen during keeping the machine in plant and that was repaired after welding.

Next task was to put all the machines at exact place and clean the same. Roughly 2 – 3 weeks took to clean all the machines. Parallel to this task we are getting few more machines from Belgium and USA i.e. Van De Wiele, Construma & Tufting. Once Pradeep Pathania joined our team, I get breathing time. This is because, he is handling all material management and admin related task.

I and team have started errection work. By January 2013 we have erected mostly all the Looms. Next task was the creel & tubing errection and commissioning of Looms. We have started commissioning work and completed commissioning of 2 Narrow Looms, one 2 Mtr Axminster and 2 Van De Wiele Loom by mid of February 2013. Manish Mane from Brintons has joined our team who is having very rich experience of Axminster Looms. After joining of Manish, commissioning work were become faster and accurate. Finally, we have started production on Van De Wiele by mid of May. Also, we have completed Quality sample production of Axminster Loom by April 2013.

Right now, our 2 Axminster Looms are almost ready for production. 2 Van de Wiele looms are doing production work, Wire Wilton and Loop pile construma have started producing samples and 3 Coble Tufting machines have started producing samples. Right now the entire team size is 65.

During these periods, I use to wake up at 5:00 am and pick up most of the mates from their home and present at site by 7:00 am. Apart from this, we use to do party mostly all the days. Afgani from Malhotra (Shop) is become very famous among our self. And Pradeep is promoting Afgani.

We reach here, only because of team efforts. Otherwise this project was become a night mare for me.

Team work is a key of success.

Delhi Airport T3 Carpets

After huge efforts by many team members of Brintons carpet, it was my great pleasure to see the Carpet on floor by become a traveler.

I have spent around 4 hours in Domestic Arrival and Departure Area by waiting for my connected flight. During this time I have talked with many people for the overview of Carpet and get a wonderful response from them. All the passengers are happy to see a wonderful Airport decorated by various Interiors which includes our carpet too. About carpet, they were amazed to see a great design and quality carpet which gives them a royal feeling.

Waiting for my connected flight

During departure

This project was the nightmare for many team members.

Initially at Enquiry stage, Sarbajit G, Ganesh S and Rob B were done incredible work to get design selected by the customer GMR. At this stage, the sampling team have played a vital role to deliver the sample on time. Specially without being compromising the delivery date of other projects, Abhishek Srivastava was always fighting to deliver the samples of this project on time.

After getting the order Sreejith P and Kiran M with his team have played a vital role to shape the project in such a way to minimize the delivery lead time and optimize the productivity. Certainly our Indian planners, specially Nitin S and Arpita S have helped them to minimize the quantum of production design work and providing a minimum wastage plan.

Once this project has came for production designing the main team members involved i.e. Nitin J, Madan G, Harshal D and Kanchan U were become a fighter of this project. Mostly all the time they were fighting to release this project on committed date with proper checking and processing.

After production designing, dyeing team have done incredible job to match the colours against approved shades. This task was very important because, slight change of shade could lead the blurring of the design by merging two close colours. Weaving and Finishing team were always checking the design against print provided to avoid any wrongly woven carpet. Also, while weaving they were facing the huge pressure of rush orders.

Sending correct carpet on site and arranging warehouse of huge quantity of carpet was become the nightmare for Rajat J and weaving team.

Installation of the correct carpet on site was handled fantastically to windup the entire installation within due time and prior to inauguration.

This project is really a best example of team efforts by Sales, Project Management, Design, Project Planning, Manufacturing e.t.c. team.

Email Fraud

It’s an opportunity for me to share my experience with all of you.

I was surprised, when I was received an E-Mail with the subject as “EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY @ MARKS & SPENCER INDUSTRIES”. (Refer below E-Mail 1)

As like every one, I was also forwarded my CV with a nicely drafted cover letter and the answer to their questions (Refer below E-Mail 2).

After few days, I was received an E-Mail with the subject as “APPROVED OFFICIAL APPOINTMENT LETTER CONGRATULATION!!!!!!!!!!!!” (Refer below E-Mail 3).

After reviewing to that letter I was got confused that, MARKS & SPENCER is a very big company and it must have their own E-Mail account and not using the yahoo and Gmail account for any communication. Also, if the screening test was held by any agent and they might have an E-Mail account in yahoo or Gmail but the official letter which I received must be forwarded from the HR department of that company and not from any other agents.
To reconfirm the same, I was tried to call on the given number but I fount the number was invalid or transferred to any other number. Ultimately I was not able to communicate them on phone.
At that moment I was roughly 75-80% got sure that the E-Mails I have received is FRAUD.
Then as an interest and 20-25% fear of loosing an opportunity I was scanned and signed the official contract document and reply to them (as required).

Very next day I was received and E-Mail with subject as “U.K VISA PROCESSING, PROCESSING OF WORK/RESIDENT PERMIT CERTIFICATES” (Refer below E-Mail 4) and the word documents of UK Visa form.

As I have already visited UK and known the form format, I was surprised to see the new format of Visa form (VAF5). I was crosschecked the same from internet and found its different then the actual format. Also in one of the communication it was mentioned that, I have to process my Visa from that agent only. To process the Visa they are charging Pound 650 (INR 52,000 roughly).

This letter confirms me that, the E-Mail which I have received is Fraud.

Suddenly my home Internet was working and got time to search the “MARKS & SPENCER” contact number. I have called in HR department and tried to contact Mr. Mark Hark (as I was receiving the E-Mail from him). Surprisingly I received a comment that, this name is not exist in their HR department and the E-mail with I received is void.

This call was given me a good relief that, I was not loosen my INR 50,000 – 55,000. and not gone in depth of this opportunity.

I was discussed with my friends and warn them abut the same.
This incidence is given me an opportunity to share the case with all.

SAURABH ADITYA PORTFOLIO

Fashion design is the applied art dedicated to the design of clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time.

Fashion is a term that usually applies to a person that is often wearing the 'in' clothes , but quite often applies to a personal mode of expression that may or may not apply to all. Inherent in the term is the idea that the mode will change more quickly than the culture as a whole. The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" are employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current popular mode of expression. The term "fashion" is frequently used in a positive sense, as a synonym for glamour, beauty and style.

The Indian rural market

The Indian rural market with its vast size and demand base offers a huge opportunity that MNCs cannot afford to ignore. With 128 million households, the rural population is nearly three times the urban.

As a result of the growing affluence, fuelled by good monsoons and the increase in agricultural output to 200 million tonnes from 176 million tonnes in 1991, rural India has a large consuming class with 41 per cent of India's middle-class and 58 per cent of the total disposable income.

The importance of the rural market for some FMCG and durable marketers is underlined by the fact that the rural market accounts for close to 70 per cent of toilet-soap users and 38 per cent of all two-wheeler purchased. The rural market accounts for half the total market for TV sets, fans, pressure cookers, bicycles, washing soap, blades, tea, salt and toothpowder, What is more, the rural market for FMCG products is growing much faster than the urban counterpart.
